Crockpot Goulash Recipe

This American-style goulash is different from traditional Hungarian goulash, but it’s just as comforting in its own way. The combination of beef, tomatoes, pasta, and melted cheese creates a classic family-friendly dish that both kids and adults love. Serve it with crusty bread or a fresh salad for a complete meal everyone will ask for again.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1½ cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef with the diced onion in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess grease and stir in the garlic for 1 minute.
  2. Transfer the beef mixture to the crockpot.
  3. Add beef broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  4. Cover and cook:
    • LOW for 6–7 hours
    • HIGH for 3–4 hours
  5. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the uncooked macaroni. Cover again and cook until pasta is tender.
  6. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese if desired and let it melt before serving.

Tips

  • For a thicker goulash, reduce the broth slightly.
  • Add bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving for a fresh finish.
