Another great advantage is how easy it is to prepare. You can make it on the stovetop, in the oven, or even in one pan for minimal cleanup. It pairs beautifully with rice, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes, making it a versatile main dish. You can also adjust the flavor by adding soy sauce for extra umami or chili flakes for a bit of heat. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or your family, this dish is guaranteed to be a hit.
Ingredients
- 6 chicken thighs (bone-in or boneless, skin-on preferred)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
- 2 tablespoons water (if using cornstarch)
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat and sear the chicken thighs skin-side down until golden and crispy, about 5–7 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for 3–4 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix honey, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar (or lemon juice).
- Pour the sauce into the pan with the chicken and reduce heat to medium-low.
- Cover and let simmer for 15–20 minutes, occasionally spooning the sauce over the chicken.
- (Optional) Mix cornstarch with water and add to the pan to thicken the sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until glossy.
- Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
