Meatball Sub Casserole

My boys LOVE this! It is quick and simple! This recipe will spice up your Super Bowl(R) parties and family events and get the whole family asking you to make it again! It’s so easy to enjoy this classic sub in casserole form! Grab a fork and sink your teeth in to this delectable Meatball Sub Casserole.

A quick and hearty Italian meal is easier than you think. Instead of assembling an individual sandwich for everyone, toss just 4 ingredients into a casserole dish and bake. It’s really that simple.
We love using baguette for this, but any thick cut crusty bread will work! For an extra touch of delicious crunch, we highly recommend an optional panko topping: In a medium bowl, mix 1/2 cup panko, 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan, and 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley until well combined. Sprinkle evenly across the casserole and bake! If you like it toasty, broiling for 2 to 3 minutes at the end will yield an even crispier topping.

-1 (16 ounce) package frozen garlic bread
-2 (24 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
-40 Italian-style frozen meatballs
-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

First, preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

Heat garlic bread with spread side up on a baking sheet in the preheated oven until warm and golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes. Set aside to chill.

When finished, please reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Bring spaghetti sauce to a boil in a large pot. Place frozen meatballs into sauce. Reduce heat to low and simmer until meatballs are heated through, about 20 minutes.

Tear garlic bread into bite-size pieces and spread into bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Now, have spaghetti sauce and meatballs poured over garlic bread, coating bread with sauce and distributing meatballs evenly. In a layer, spread mozzarella cheese over top, followed by a layer of Parmesan cheese.

Bake casserole for 20 to 25 minutes, until cheese has melted. Serve! Enjoy!
