ORANGE CREAMSICLE ICE CREAM CAKE

This Orange Creamsicle Ice Cream Layer Cake is 6 layers of delicious orange and vanilla flavors! It begins with a layer of vanilla-orange poke cake. Next is a layer of homemade vanilla ice cream. After that is a layer of orange ice cream. Another layer of orange poke cake, then a layer of vanilla bean ice cream, and the top layer is orange sherbet. It is frosted with homemade orange whipping cream and fresh oranges. So yummy! This Orange Creamsicle Ice Cream Cake is light, fruity and just like eating an orange creamsicle in ice cream cake form! It’s been a long time in the making and I’m so excited to share it with you! Summers at my grandparent’s house always meant trips to the store owned by Mr. Lovell Brooks near their home in the cotton mill village. In the front of the store, to the right of the door as you entered, was a chest-type freezer where Mr. Brooks kept ice creams. We weren’t allowed to pick out an ice cream every time we were in the store, but we certainly maximized each opportunity we had. I never had to think about my selection. I went straight for a Creamsicle: vanilla ice cream on a stick with an orange sherbet coating. To share this childhood favorite flavor with my grandchildren, I whipped up a Creamsicle-Inspired Ice Cream Layer Cake during one of their visits.
