Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 small head of cabbage, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
In a large skillet, sauté chopped cabbage with a little oil until slightly tender, about 8–10 minutes.
In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the cabbage, then half of the meat mixture. Repeat layers.
Top with shredded cheese if using.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until bubbly.
Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
Additional Tips or Variations
Swap ground turkey or sausage for beef
Add rice or cooked quinoa for a more filling meal
Top with breadcrumbs for extra texture
Use red pepper flakes for a spicier kick
