Kitchen Equipment You’ll Need
Air fryer
Cutting board
Sharp knife or mandoline slicer
Mixing bowl
Measuring spoons
Tongs or spatula
Tips for Success
Use bananas that are ripe but still firm—not overly soft. Slice the bananas evenly to ensure uniform cooking. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; work in batches if needed. Lightly grease the air fryer basket to prevent sticking. Flip the banana slices halfway through for even crispness.
Ingredients
2 ripe but firm bananas
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon coconut oil or light olive oil
1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional for added sweetness)
Pinch of salt (optional)
Directions
Peel the bananas and slice them into thin, even rounds about 1/8 inch thick. In a mixing bowl, toss the banana slices with oil, cinnamon, and optional maple syrup or salt until evenly coated. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray or brush the basket with oil to prevent sticking. Place the banana slices in a single layer in the basket without overlapping. Air fry for 10 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. Remove and let cool completely—they’ll continue to crisp as they cool.
Additional Tips or Variations
Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom for a warm spice blend. Try a cocoa powder dusting for a chocolate twist. For a savory version, skip the cinnamon and toss the slices with paprika or chili powder. Dip finished chips in melted dark chocolate for a fun dessert variation.
