The Best Crack Cake

Ingredients:

For the cake:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup white wine (or apple juice as substitute)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

For the glaze:

  • 1 stick (½ cup) butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup white wine (or apple juice)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a bundt pan well.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, water, oil, and wine until smooth.
  3. Stir in brown sugar and granulated sugar until fully combined.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze:
    • In a saucepan, melt butter.
    • Add sugar, water, and wine.
    • Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove cake from oven and while still hot, poke holes all over with a skewer or fork.
  8. Slowly pour the warm glaze over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15–20 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.
