Three Envelope Roast Creation

Ingredients

3 to 4 lb chuck roast

1 packet onion soup mix

1 packet ranch dressing mix

1 packet brown gravy mix

2 to 2½ cups water or beef broth

1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for browning)

Optional additions: carrots, potatoes, onion chunks

Instructions

Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). If desired, heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the roast on all sides for extra flavor.

Place the roast in a large Dutch oven or roasting pan. Sprinkle the onion soup mix, ranch dressing mix, and brown gravy mix evenly over the roast.

Pour the water or broth around the roast, not directly on top, to keep the seasoning in place.

Cover tightly with a lid or foil and bake for 3½ to 4 hours, until the meat is very tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

Add vegetables during the last 2 hours if using. Serve hot with the rich gravy spooned over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.
