Homemade Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler

Are you going to prepare something really tasty for your home dessert on Sunday, but your children don’t like homemade bakery? – Oh, this is a real problem, but not in this case in fact.
Today we are going to propose you a recipe of rather delicious or even yummy thing called Homemade Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler. This Kentucky-style blackberry cobbler is perfect for hot summer evenings.

Even though the day in the fields ended up a bit traumatic because I received my first bee sting, I was treated inside the farmhouse almost immediately, and we were soon back home with our spoils. All in all, it was a champion for great homegrown foods. With such a surplus, we sprinkled the berries with sugar and froze them in big bags…from which little lady gourmet hands snuck frozen treats every fifteen minutes.

Homemade Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups fresh blackberries, washed
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 stick of unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

Prepare the Blackberry Mixture:
In a large bowl, stir together the blackberries and sugar. Allow the mixture to sit for 25-30 minutes. This process, called macerating, helps release the juices from the blackberries and sweetens them with the sugar.

Preheat the Oven:

About 20 minutes into macerating the blackberries, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Batter:
In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, and milk using a wooden spoon.
Add the melted butter to the mixture and hand-mix until well incorporated and few clumps remain.

Assemble the Cobbler:

Choose a clean baking dish, preferably a smaller one. Pour the batter into the dish and smooth it out. You can choose to line the dish with parchment paper or leave it ungreased.
Pour the macerated blackberries, along with all the sugar, evenly over the batter.
Bake the Cobbler:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your desired level of golden crustiness.
Let the cobbler cool for about 15 minutes to allow it to set.

Serve:
Serve the cobbler warm or at room temperature with warmed cream or fresh whipped cream.
Store any leftovers at room temperature with foil covering for 2-3 days. It can also be stored in the fridge, but it’s unlikely to last that long!
