Smothered Green Beans – canned green beans baked in bacon, brown sugar, butter, soy sauce, and garlic. This is the most requested green bean recipe in our house. Everybody gets seconds. SO good!! Great for a potluck. Everyone asks for the recipe! Super easy to make. These Smothered Green Beans are ridiculous! OMG! SO good!! Green beans smothered with bacon, brown sugar, butter, soy sauce and garlic. How could they not be good? The best part is that this casserole only takes a few minutes to put together. You can actually cook the bacon ahead of time and this would be ready in about a minute! Woohoo!

Are you getting bored of serving the same old green bean casserole? Boy oh boy, do I have a recipe for you. Trust me, this NEEDS to be on your Thanksgiving menu.

6 thick slices bacon, chopped
1/2 cup onions, minced
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
1 cup water
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 pinch ground black pepper

Directions

Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until the fat begins to render. Stir in onions and garlic; let cook for 1 minute. Stir in beans and water. Let the beans cook until the water has evaporated and the beans are tender. If the beans are not tender once the water has evaporated, add a small amount more water and let them cook until tender. Season with salt and pepper (to taste) and serve.

Tip: Aluminum foil can be used to keep food moist, cook it evenly, and make clean-up easier.
