I used 1/2 cup white sugar instead of 3/4 as in the recipe, and for the oats, I blended rolled oats into a powder before adding to the mix. The cookies were absolutely delicious — everyone loved them and I got a lot of comments asking for the recipe. I’ll definitely be making these again. Also, an extra step to mix the dry ingredients together first before adding to the wet ingredients would seem a good idea.
Made these again this year by request of the entire family for the holidays! Everyone loved them! Last year made them exactly as the recipe says, and they were gobbled up. This year did a batch with soaked cranberries and one batch without as a test for Thanksgiving. Have to say for Christmas going back to the recipe exactly as written as they are the ones everyone liked the best!! Thanks for this recipe!
Great cookie. I’m really glad I read the reviews and soaked the cranberries, they turned out perfect. I used a small ice cream scoop and got 28 cookies out of it. Thanks for posting.
These cookies were a hit! Like others said, I lowered the temp and added an extra egg yolk. I didn’t have oatmeal at home so I substituted with a cup of dessicated coconut… and they were DELICIOUS. Had to share the idea because they were just so good!
I made these cookies twice with the suggestions that everyone had made. I made one change on the second batch, I added 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder to make them rise a little. The second batch I made with the baking powder were better than the first, not a flat and crunchy. These cookies were a hit with my family and the local fire department(which was my 6 year old daughters idea).
Love these cookies, they are delicious, made them as my first batch of Christmas cookies. My husband liked them and he doesn’t even like white chocolate. I did make them small using a cookie scooper so lowered the temp to 350 and was glad I did as they were just right at 10 minutes. I also followed other suggestions – soaked the cranberries, only used 1/2 cup of regular sugar and added an extra egg yolk. I added a few walnuts to my last batch at hubby’s suggestion.
I just made these, but I substituted dried cherries for the cranberries. I wish I had made a double batch because I don’t think I’ll have any left after sharing them with friends tonight!
I made these to take camping last weekend and they were gone on the first day. Everyone raved how great they were and I didn’t think the hubbs would eat them because they were oatmeal but he wants these from now on and even asked for me to make some so he could take to work. Thanks for a great recipe this is a big keeper! Update:these are my go to cookies for all occasions and the most asked for cookie I make. Even when over baked and crunchy they are wonderful coffee dunking cookies – know this from experience!
I love these cookies! I made 3 batches of these to take to a potluck and they were the first thing gone. Everyone kept saying they were some of the best cookies ever. I used a little less white chips –probably about 4 oz. — as I thought their flavor overpowered everything else. And I used egg beaters since I didn’t have any eggs. My cookies did not really spread, so I just pushed down on the tops a little before I baked them. I only had to bake about 8 minutes then removed them when they didn’t look done. This way after cooling they were perfectly soft. GREAT recipe!
